A park day with a hotel on the right side of it

Should you stay here or visit for the day?

When a stay makes sense

Choose accommodation outside the park on the side nearest your main museum and evening plans. The park is a day destination, not a hotel district itself.

When to compare another base

A hotel described as near Central Park may be near a different entrance from the one you need. Do not use the park center as your hotel address.

Before paying for a room

Check the named entrance, walking route, access needs and current park notices before choosing a hotel for the view.

Start with the venue’s own visitor page. Check the date, admission or tour, accessibility and cancellation terms. Free public spaces can be part of the day without a paid tour.

A practical plan for this area

Choose one part of the park instead of trying to cross all of it between bookings. For a first visit, use Bethesda Terrace as the main stop, then exit toward the same side as your next meal or museum. A nearby hotel helps with breaks; a park view alone does not identify the easiest entrance.

Choose your stops

Getting there and back

Bethesda Terrace is near the middle of the park at 72nd Street. Choose an east- or west-side entry based on your starting point. If step-free access or an accessible restroom is essential, use the Conservancy’s access information before fixing the route.

Before you book

The terrace can still be visited while Bethesda Fountain is off for restoration, which began in August 2026. The terrace restroom is not wheelchair accessible. Check current park notices before your day.

If plans change

For heavy rain, use the nearby east- or west-side museum plan on a day it is open. If the group tires, leave from the nearer side instead of continuing north to complete a route that no longer suits you.
