A practical plan for this area

Choose a Battery-area base for an early harbor departure or a Lower Manhattan visit. Give Liberty and Ellis Islands their own main day, with an early departure if you want both. Avoid attaching a tight airport transfer or theatre booking to the return.

Getting there and back

Confirm whether your island ticket departs from The Battery in Manhattan or Liberty State Park in New Jersey. Save the screening location from the operator. Allow for security and boarding before planning the return to your hotel.

Statue City Cruises is the authorized operator to Liberty and Ellis Islands. General admission does not include the pedestal or crown. The printed time is for joining the security queue, not a guaranteed ferry departure.

If plans change

If pedestal or crown tickets are unavailable, decide whether a general-admission island visit still meets your interests. Check operator and NPS alerts for weather changes; choose a land-based day if sailings are disrupted.
